1. 📜 Government of India Act Passed (1858)

Today was that day when in 1858 the British parliament passed the Government of India Act 1858. This was such a law which ended the 250 year era of the East India Company and began the British crown. After this act India officially became a British Raj. Now the King would not be an officer of any company but would be the appointed Viceroy of Queen Victoria who was the biggest representative of the British Empire in India.

2. 🧪 Birth Anniversary: Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray (1861)

Let us now know about a person who not only kept chemistry confined to the laboratory but took it to the development of the country. Yes, his name is Acharya Prafulla Chandra Rai. Every year on 2 August we celebrate the birth anniversary of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Rai who not only created chemical equations but also laid the foundation of India’s scientific future. He was born in 1861 and today he is considered the father of Indian chemistry. He established Bengal chemicals and pharmaceuticals, which was India’s first pharmaceutical company. It was not just a company but a true example of indigenous science.

3. 🇮🇳 Birth Anniversary: Pingali Venkayya (1876)

Pingali Venkayya ji was born on 2 August 1876. His imagination gave India such a national flag under which every Indian stands with pride today. He designed such a thing that if it is hoisted in any other country, the heart of every Indian fills with proud. For this contribution of him, we celebrate the birth anniversary of Pingali Venkayya ji every year on 2 August. Their design was made on the advice of Gandhiji, which is such a design that brings out the soul of India in colours. This design was very symbolic in which saffron colour is a symbol of sacrifice and courage. White colour is a symbol of peace and truth, green colour is a symbol of progress, greenery and life and along with it, the blue Ashoka circle in white colour proclaims justice and eternal progress.

4. 🕊 Mahatma Gandhi’s Kashmir Visit (1947)

On 1 August 1947, just a few days before India’s independence, Mahatma Gandhi visited Srinagar (Kashmir). This visit was for 4 days, i.e., from 1 August to 4 August. His visit was not just a political trip but it was a message of peace, unity and humanity. He met Maharaja Hari Singh and different political leaders on that day. Bapu’s aim was to ensure peaceful accession of Kashmir in India and maintain communal harmony. At that time there was tension in the whole country but Gandhi ji went everywhere and taught people the path of non-violence and unity.

Do you know that bananas have a little radioactivity? Yes, that’s true! The reason for this is Potassium-40 which is a naturally occurring radioactive isotope found in bananas. But there’s no need to worry because this radiation is so little that you would have to eat a few lakhs of bananas at a time for it to become harmful to your body. And by then your stomach will be burst even before the radio action happens.
